We have been looking at SpiceBird – An Open Source collaboration product of an Indian Startup, one thing we felt was, Wow, a good attempt to integrate Mozilla Thunderbird (Email client) and Mozilla Lightning (Calendar Project). 
However, when we looked at the forums, looked like the development was a bit slow. A big question is, Can they survive with other such collaboration products like Zimbra for instance. They have enterprise solution.

What is SpiceBird?
SpiceBird is a Collaboration tool that integrates E-Mail, Chat and Calendar (much more) together, gives a unified User interface to word better. A good alternative to Microsoft Outlook. Though Mozilla Thunderbird has been around for sometime now, due to its lack of Calendar support, it may be a turn off for few.
How do I install SpiceBird?
A simple installer, easy to do.
Import Outlook data if needed.

Well, the usual stuff, Mails, Calendar, Chat window which is integrated.
Calendar Support – Create new task, invite people and much more.
Add new contacts (You can easily import from your Outlook Contact list)
The home page of SpiceBird is interesting with widget support. It can have RSS feeds, Google gadgets, time zone etc.
Well, SpiceBird offers some good stuff, but it is in Beta and may take some time to mature. We’re not too sure whether the development is active or stalled. But, one thing is that the development is slow and not too many releases. We hope that it sees better future. If you represent SpiceBird Dev team, we would like to have your comments down below.
